Lezing 4: Olle Stjerne

Olle Stjerne (1984, Stockholm) explores landscape, how humankind relates to the world around, and with technology shape it to our liking. The original settlement is now informing all ideas and all creation taking place there, and to an exact amount, how much the world will allow us to dominate it. Stjerne always uses a place as a starting point. The qualitative investigation of that place is then directly referenced or transformed into work, often sculpture, on site or in an installation.

Material is the other great driving force, informing the shape of the work and how it will relate to its surroundings. The work In the Inner Garden (2020) were two interlocking cubic forms made from cardboard that disintegrated in the rain over the course of the first iteration of Art Oost in Amsterdam.
