b. 1991, Amsterdam
Lives and works in Breda and Amsterdam

Rosa Johanna (1991, Amsterdam) is an artist, curator and educator. Her work is grounded in the the language of abstract painting. In the first place in her painterly practice as such, in which grid structures have been defining most of her series of late. Secondly her practice is questioned and extended through other media, such as short films, perfomative installations and curated exhibitions. Alongside her work as an artist and curator she works as an educator in vocational and secondary education and hopes to inspire (young) peers in their personal development. She graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2015 and was nominated for the Van Abbemuseum Theodora Niemeijerprijs, The Royal Prize for Modern Painting (2017 – 2018) and Volkskrant Beeldende Kunstprijs (2018). Coming years she will follow a Bachelor and Master degree in Art Education at Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (2021 – 2023 (expected))
